Hanging

We finally got the inspectors here to give their final approval and we were good to go with sheetrock. Ward does so much of the work himself, but this is one job that he doesn't do. It is actually progressing along rather quickly. The hangers started yesterday and it sounds like they will be done by tomorrow or Friday.

Ready for Drywall

We are ready for drywall! We are just waiting for the inspectors to come give their "OK" before we start hanging. The exterior of the house is almost finished. We got the stone finished - which looks amazing if I do say so myself. When they started putting the stone on we were pretty worried that we had picked the wrong color. It looked a lot lighter on the house than the sample in the book - imagine that. But after they finished with the stone they gave it an acid wash and we couldn't have been happier with the end result. Now if we can just get the soffit & fascia finished...

Exterior Work

After a lot of consideration and debate, we decided to stucco the front of the house. We have been contemplating colors and finishes for weeks now. I had a picture in my mind of how I wanted the house to look and it's pretty close to what I pictured, although it actually looks better than I imagined. The stucco looks so nice and turned out better than the siding I had pictured. I especially love the arch over the garage. I should clarify with these pictures - the color of the trim that is in the picture is the color it will be. They have not finished the rest of the stucco. The main stucco color is a semi-dark brown (not charcoal gray like it appears in the picture). We are doing matching siding on the other three sides of the house and it is looking good too. As with construction there have been a few delays in getting the siding up (both in and out of our hands). But when I took these pictures this morning Ward & Rick were putting up more siding and the stone subcontractor is scheduled to come today. The progress is really moving along. The rough HVAC is done. The rough electrical and plumbing are close to being done and we have an appointment with the insulation company next Tuesday. We should be ready for drywall by the end of next week!

Shingled...

The roof is finally shingled! It took longer than Ward anticipated, but thankfully no more climbing on the roof. Here is a picture of the front and back of the house. Now we're on to bigger and better things. We've been driving around neighborhoods looking at siding, trim & stone. We've got a pretty good idea of what we think would look good and be appealing to buyers - hopefully we'll hit the mark.

Amazing View

There is an unobstructed view of the Rexburg Temple from the living room window in this spec house. Ward decided to put a bay window in the living room after the foundation was poured. That turned out to be an excellent decision. Here is the beautiful bay window with the clamshell roof that Ward & Bryce did a great job on!

Pictures don't do it justice, but here is the view out that bay window.

Roof Sheated

The roof is finally sheated and ready to be shingled. The most exciting part about the roof is the clamshell that was built over the bay window. Here is a picture of Bryce standing by his handywork. Now time for shingles - let the fun begin!

Roof Trusses

We installed the roof trusses today. We rented a boom truck from BMC and had them on in two hours!
